    Sometimes I think I really like onions, and then I come here and see what you guys are up to, and I realize there’s levels of onion love that I will simply never achieve

    I wish, would make snacking so easy. But apparently I need additional flavors with my onions.

    I’ve always wondered if I could handle eating an onion this way I added salt or pepper, like how my mom loved adding salt to a lemon before eating it. Much like the lemon, I don’t think I could do it.

    Today I cored out the middle of a huge yellow onion and stuffed it with smoked Gouda and Asiago cheese then wrapped it in bacon and put it in the oven. It was good

    Edit: I diced and grilled the core from the onion and put it on top

    It has to be a very sweet valdalia and even then it wouldn’t be able to bite it like an apple. Maybe if i had some cheese.

    When I was in a correctional bootcamp in Texas my friend and I used to eat wild ones like that all the time. When you’re working in the hot sun, digging holes, those onions end up tasting so nice and sweet.

    I used to, but it turns out I’m slightly allergic.

    I mentioned it once on a camping trip with the logic of “I love eating onions like apples cause the crunch is so good, it just sucks that it makes my mouth numb” and my friend turned to me and just said “no part of that sentence was correct”

    Being allergic can’t stop the onion love, I still will occasionally eat little bits of them raw

    Giving true inspiration here! Might be brave enough to one day.

    This leads to so many questions: Do you ever sauce the onion when eating whole on other occasions ? Mustard? Hot sauce? Salt and pepper?

    I’ve used onion pedals as hummus/dip chip substitute. I heard an onion festival did whole onions covered in chocolate like a caramel apple.
